The Nature & Conservation Storytelling Fellowship in Wales

The Nature & Conservation Storytelling Fellowship in Wales

Launched in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, this fellowship is a unique opportunity for young storytellers in Wales to develop and share impactful conservation narratives. Over the course of three months, fellows will receive:

  • Mentorship from award-winning conservation and nature storytellers.

  • Professional-grade equipment, which they keep after the fellowship for as long as you keep using it to tell stories.

  • Access to instructional and learning material

  • Training through a two-day workshop in Wales, including project development and hands-on use of storytelling tools.

  • Full coverage of meals, accommodation, and travel expenses for the workshop and final exhibition.

The programme culminates in a public exhibition and film screening where fellows will present their work to the Welsh conservation community, local activists, industry professionals and the broader public. The final exhibition will be a chance for fellows to foster dialogue on conservation and storytelling in Wales while showcasing and celebrating their work.

  • This fellowship is for young storytellers in Wales, aged 18–25, with a passion for sharing conservation and nature stories. No prior experience with storytelling tools or equipment is necessary.

We especially encourage applications from young people who may not have felt heard before but are passionate about communicating the stories of their local environment.

  • A three-month fellowship offering mentorship, resources, and professional-grade equipment to develop unique, local conservation stories. Fellows will be matched with mentors, with whom they will have regular virtual meetings and communication as they develop their projects.
